These offerings grew out of a need
to find a practical solution to repair/replace damaged foundation and
attic vent screens.
Foundation Vent Screens
presented a problem in that the original screen would rust and
disintegrate allowing pests like rats and raccoons, or other animals access
to the foundation area. Although not aesthetically pleasing, the
common solution has been to install new hardware cloth either on the outside
or the inside of the vent unit. Hardware cloth does not solve the
rust and disintegration issue, screen on the outside does not allow easy
access for closing of the vent covers, and restricted access in many instances
can make inside installation difficult.
Our practical solution is to replace the rusted screen with stainless
steel screen while maintaining the original appearance. In most
instances installation can be performed from the outside provided that
access to the vent is unobstructed, otherwise they will have to be replaced
from the crawl space side of the foundation.
Attic Vent Screens
are a problem when birds gain access by persistent pecking
on weak vent fibers. Once they have removed the barrier they nest
and cause a mess in the attic, dislocating insulation, creating
noise, possibly causing an unpleasant odor and attracting pests like rats,
squirrels and insects.
Our simple solution is to install corrosion resistant stainless steel
screen from the outside. While maintaining the original appearance,
it is strong and will stand up to the elements.
