Flat Tips Loose Pin-  The tip at the top of the knuckle is attached to a stainless steel pin. The lower tip has a knurled plug that is pressed into the knuckle, and also has a hole so the pin can be removed with a drift.

Fixed Flat Tips-  This style has tips with a knurled plug that is pressed into the end of the knuckle.  The stainless steel pin is unattached.  Although the tips are not designed for removal, and most likely will be damaged if removed, they can be removed.
