Stainless Steel Replacement Foundation
Vent Screen for Poured-in-Place Plastic Units
Many foundations that have been built since the
mid 70s have poured-in-place double screen plastic vent units.
Some of these units originally had plastic flaps
that could be shut during the winter season and the inside dimensions
plastic to plastic at the very front of the vent measures 15 7/8" in width
and 7 1/4" in height. Our do-it-yourself kit is the ultimate solution
for replacing foundation vent screens. Kits include precut stainless
steel screen, cleaning brush, disposable Vulkem cartridge tip attachment,
miscellaneous temporary installation accessories and detailed step by
step installation instructions for replacement of the existing screen.
Installation can be performed from the outside if access to the vent is
unobstructed, otherwise the screens will have to be replaced from the
crawl space side of the foundation.
You will need
Vulkem 116 Polyurethane Sealant in
a color to match that of your plastic vents, caulking gun, household cleaner,
and in addition, a hot melt glue gun if the work is to be performed from
the crawl space side.
Please note that as the Vulkem cures the disposable
tip will be rendered useless. Most likely you will be able to salvage
any remaining Vulkem for a month, but you will need to purchase additional
Disposable Vulkem Cartridge Tip Attachments
if you do not intend to install all of the vents on the same day.
